CRN-I Elects Board Officers WASHINGTON, D.C., April 28, 2010—The Council for Responsible Nutrition-International (CRN-I), CRN’s newly formed subsidiary headquartered in Manno, Switzerland, is pleased to announce Mark LeDoux, Natural Alternatives International, Inc., has been elected chair of the CRN-I Board of Directors. In addition, John Venardos, Herbalife International of America, Inc., was elected vice chairman; Tyler Whitehead, Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. was elected secretary; and Tom Tolworthy, The Vitamin Shoppe, was elected treasurer. “We are pleased to have such strong leadership in place for CRN-I and are confident the newly elected officers will be able to lead the organization to a successful inaugural year,” said Steve Mister, president & CEO, Council for Responsible Nutrition. The officers were elected April 15 at CRN-I’s first annual meeting in Paris, France. In addition to the elections, CRN-I’s membership also approved a revised Articles of Incorporation that establishes rules of governance for the group. The organization’s official mission was approved as follows: CRN-I’s mission is to provide science-based information to regulators, health care professionals and the media, particularly those outside the United States, supporting the safety and benefit of dietary ingredients and dietary/food supplements, and to promote sound nutrition and food safety policies well grounded in science. CRN-I’s membership also plans to host a one-day by-invitation scientific symposium—“Scientific Issues Related to Codex Goals”—July 3 in Geneva, Switzerland, immediately following the Codex Alimentarius Commission meeting. The CRN-I conference will include invited international regulators, policy makers, nutrition scientists and academics to share perspectives on Codex-related issues relating to risk management and scientific standards for health claims. For more information, visit www.crn-i.ch. CRN-I is a subsidiary of the U.S.-based Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry.
